Bush Crash in Uvalde kills 13

Texas Department of Public Safety investigators believe the driver of a large, dually pickup truck involved in a head-on crash with a church bus in Uvalde County on Wednesday afternoon crossed into an oncoming lane for an unknown reason just before the crash, authorities confirmed on Thursday.

DPS Sgt. Robbie Barrera said the pickup’s driver and one female passenger in the bus were the only two people to survive the crash. The remaining 13 passengers died from their injuries.

The truck’s driver was taken to an area hospital, and was listed in stable condition.

Authorities at the church said families of those who lost their lives have been notified, and a list of names will likely be provided today.

Officials have yet to release additional information on what may have happen in the moments leading up to the collision, but the Uvalde Leader-News reported that an area resident called police in Uvalde and Real counties to report a reckless driver shortly before the crash.
